Google NYC Mural + Youth

I've been working with these same students for about 3 years creating murals in and around our school. The other month Google asked our principal if our students could help them with a mural in their NY headquarters. They've helped us out in the past by renting out our rooftop for a party and paid us hella much. So I took 3 of my mural students and we did this small logo mural for them. I art directed and they did the majority of the painting. I was super proud of these guys and how the final piece looked. Thank you Mario, Dilyon, and Dennis.

Gift 11" x 17" Ink, pencil, & charcoal on paper

Here's an illustration I did for my good friend Sarah. She had wanted a gift for her mother for the Hanukkah days. She gave me a couple of old photos of her mother and grandfather when they were younger, so I created a collage of images and added parrots and some roses (her mother's favorites). I thought it came out pretty good. I'm also hyped that I'm getting back into using a lot of pencils with the ink illustrations I'm currently doing.

Preview

Here are some photos of my small work area where I am currently putting together some new pieces for a small solo show in March. I believe the show will be titled "Elegy", which is a mourning poem. I got the idea for that through revisiting images from the book "Broken Spears" which an indigenous account of the European invasion in Mexico. A good number of the pieces in the show will be based on this concept.

"Monster Heads" from Hoodscrapers Exhibit

One more piece from the "Hoodscrapers" show we did back in May of 2009. This piece is pretty large, guessing about 6' ft tall by 12' wide on a roll of canvas.
